Lawrence D. Petermore


MELLEN, Wis. — Lawrence D. Petermore, 81, of Garden Estates, Hurley, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen.

He was born Dec. 17, 1933, in Bergland, Mich., son of the late Lawrence and Trula (Windgale) Petermore, and was raised by his stepfather, Manuel Jurmu, of Bergland. He worked as a sawyer with several logging companies in the area for many years until his retirement. During retirement, he resided in Aniwa and worked part time at a sawmill in Birnamwood, moving to Hurley in June 2007. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are two sons, Lonnie Petermore, Mora, Minn., and Kevin Petermore, Iron Mountain, Mich .; two grandchildren, Kevin and Brittany Petermore; a brother, Darrell Jurmu, Fort Dodge, Iowa; two sisters, Miriam (Gary) LaRue, Yamhill, Ore., and Bernice Verrette, Ironwood, Mich .; and ex-spouse , Betty Petermore, Hurley.

Cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Bruce Crossing, Mich.

Arrangements were with McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Ironwood.
