Timothy J. Jagla

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Timothy J. Jagla, 70, of Ironwood, died peacefully Friday, June 23, 2017, with his family by his side, at Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, following a five-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Tim was born June 6, 1947, in Chicago, son of the late Roman and Evonne (Jacquart) Jagla. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School in Westmont, Ill., and graduated from St. Ambrose High School in Ironwood in 1965. He then worked briefly for International Milling Co. in Minneapolis and, upon returning to Ironwood, was employed in construction for Snow Country Enterprises for 25 years. He retired as a fabric cutter for Jacquart Fabric Products in Ironwood in 2013.

An excellent baseball player, Tim was player/manager for Iron Rangers Baseball in the Upper 13 League for many years. He also excelled at bowling and bowled in Range area leagues. He loved playing golf, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was well known for handing out his trademark Hershey “Kisses.” He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hurley, Wis.

Surviving are two brothers, Louis (Janet) and Peter, both of Ironwood; a sister, Laura Skallerup, Petoskey; nieces and nephews, Andrew and Sara Jagla, Molly (Francis) Oakgrove, and Josiah, Nellie and Perhansa Skallerup; great-nieces, Isabella, Abigail and Zoey; numerous cousins; and a host of friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 5, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.

Pallbearers will be Andy Jagla, Fred Friedman, Mike Czerneski, Fred Alexandroni, Chris Lightfoot and Jim Wilman.
