Jack William Holmes

IRONWOOD, Mich. — Jack William Holmes, 83, passed away on September 14, 2019, at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood.

Jack was born on July 13, 1936, to Arnie and Irene (Vanhalla) Holmes in Ironwood.

He married Carol Jean Wenberg on August 30, 1958. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.

Jack served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957.

He worked for American Motors in Kenosha, Wisconsin, from 1959 to 1969, at Ruppe Cement Block as manager from 1969 to 1973, and at Winger Concrete as manager from 1973 to 1998. He retired in 1998.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Arnie and Irene; his wife, Carol; infant son, James Joseph Holmes; and brother, Dale Holmes.

He is survived by his sons, Mark (Sherri) and Mike (Chris) Holmes; his grandchildren, Hope, Jason and Courtney Holmes; great-grandchildren, Rayna Weir and Jacob, Annalena, Sawyer and Colton Holmes; a brother, Norman (Ruth) Holmes; a sister, Janet Nordling; a brother-in-law, Jack (Pat) Wenberg; a sister-in-law, Nancy Varlesi; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood, on Friday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m. Full military rites will be accorded by the Ironwood American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard.
