Edward Herman Johnson

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Edward Herman Johnson, 83, of Jacksonville, passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019.

He was born in Ironwood Township on Dec. 17, 1935, and graduated from Bergland High School.

Retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer, he was a member of the Fleet Reserve and a life long member of the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

He had a passion for woodworking, puzzles, and had various collections.

He was preceded in death by his spouses, Feliza Pacua Johnson and Mercedes Herminia Johnson; and siblings, Norman Johnson, Richard "Dick" Johnson, Ken (Wynoka) Johnson, Gladys (Virgil) Hamilton, Gordon Johnson, Walter (Charlotte) Johnson and Jack Johnson.

Survivors include Edward's son, Edwin "Ed" L. (Catherine "Jan") Johnson; daughter, Flory M. Johnson; grandson, Edwin "E.J." Johnson; granddaughter, Rosalind "Lindi" F. Johnson; siblings, Rudy (Bonita) Johnson, John Johnson and Marlene (Ron) "Tina" Zaleski; and sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson.

Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 3 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. For those who prefer, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
