Jean C. Petranek

OMAHA, Neb. - Jean C. Petranek, 77, of Omaha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023.

Jean was born on Feb. 7, 1945, in Wakefield, Michigan, to Vernon and Ethel (Niemela) Solberg. She attended Wakefield High School and graduated in 1963.

Jean lived most of her life in Wakefield and Ironwood, and in 2012 she moved to Omaha to be closer to her daughter's family and watch her granddaughter grow up.

She was predeceased by her parents, Vernon and Ethel; and her sister, Sherry Solberg.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Bill) Quackenbush, of Omaha; her granddaughter, Emily; her sister, Robin (Dick) Adams, of Ramsay, Michigan; and her brother Ross (Paula) Solberg, of Bessemer, Michigan. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Jean was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bessemer and was a member of Saint Michael Lutheran Church in Omaha.

Jean loved spending time with her daughter and granddaughter, going to movies and outdoor concerts and especially enjoyed visits to the botanical gardens.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held this summer.
