Lois Jean (Carlisle) Perttula

TROUT CREEK, Mich. - Lois Jean (Carlisle) Perttula, 92, of Trout Creek, passed away Dec. 9, 2023, at Bayside Village in L'Anse. Lois was born on May 10, 1931, in Trout Creek, to Selma (Thompson) Johnson and Leighton Carlisle.

Lois married Wilbert Perttula on June 9, 1951. Lois was mostly a home keeper raising her family, but worked various jobs outside the home throughout the years. She worked as a nurse assistant at the Ontonagon Medical Facility, teacher's aide at the Trout Creek School, Interior Township clerk, Trout Creek news contributor writer for the Ontonagon Herald, director of the senior meal program in Trout Creek, and home health aide. She was also on the Trinity Lutheran Church council, and served as church treasurer, and Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher.

Lois loved baking and gave various goodies away as gifts, especially at Christmas. She was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Trombly Pulkas American Legion and 494 Supporters, all in Trout Creek. She perfected the pasty crust for all the pasty sales the Ladies Auxiliary held over the many years.

Lois is survived by her children, Terry (Sheila) Perttula, Ken (Florence) Perttula, Nancy (Bruce) Porier, Steve (Kelly) Perttula, Tim (Sunni) Perttula and Trina (Rory) Hokens; 16 grandchildren, Aaron Perttula, Tonia (Corey) Zick, Beth Garcia, Christina Perttula, Brandon Perttula, Jason Porier, Marcus (Alisa) Porier, Michelle (Robert) Aldegarie, Ryan Perttula, Gerald (Becca) Perttula, Victoria (Michael) Litchfield, Timothy Perttula, Lamar Perttula, Lillian Perttula, Ridge Hokens and Hart Hokens; 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Owen Zick, Zachary and Madison Garcia, Emmalee Buch, Jaiden Dobson, Gabrielle, Nevin and Colin Porier, and Arianna Litchfield, and one great-grandchild to be born in January 2024; brother Milton (Pat) Albaugh; sisters-in-law, Joan Carlisle and Cynthia Perttula; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert, of 65 years of marriage who passed in 2016; parents; siblings, Evelyn Moffitt, Elizabeth Dishaw, Leighton (Bud) Carlisle, Marjorie Elsner and Melvin Johnson; and a great-grandson, David (DJ) Saubert Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Community Church or 494 Supporters of Trout Creek.

Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 3 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Community Church in Trout Creek, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. A lunch will be served at the American Legion immediately after the service.

Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
