Norma J. Pucilowski

BESSEMER, Mich. - Norma J. Pucilowski, age 86, formerly of Bessemer, died March 18, 2024.

Norma Jane Schneider was born on Oct. 23, 1937, to the late Alfred and Mary (Selvig) Schneider in Jamestown, Michigan. Norma attended local schools in North Dorr, Michigan, and graduated high school from Catholic Central in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with the class of 1955.

On Aug. 17, 1957, she was married to the late Donald "Patchy" Pucilowski at the Visitation Church in North Dorr. In 1969, they moved from Lower Michigan to Bessemer.

She is survived by her five children, Cindy Pucilowski, Woodbury, Minnesota; Mary Jo Pucilowski, Greenfield, Wisconsin; Donald (Lynette) Pucilowski, Gile, Wisconsin; David (Sue Reynen) Pucilowski, Port Washington, Wisconsin; and Steve (Denise) Pucilowski, Wayland, Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren, Scott, Amy, Katie, Chad, Matt Reynen, and Jack Reynen, and great-granddaughter, Wrenley Pucilowski. She is survived by her two sisters, Erma Schneider, Grandville, Michigan, and Irene Keyes, Portage, Michigan; along with several nieces and nephews.

Norma (also known as Patchy's wife) was a stay-at-home mom until she started working at SuperValu in the produce department. After 10 years with SuperValu, she worked for Linda G. Maki Law Office. Norma then worked as a secretary for the radiology department at Grand View Hospital where she was named Employee of the Year in 1994. She moved to the Hurley Clinic as a receptionist where she retired in 1999. She also spent time volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul in Bessemer.

Norma and Patchy spent several summers camping at Lake Gogebic. Her family and grandchildren were her world and teased her endlessly on her lack of cooking skills - meatloaf was her nemesis.

After Patchy's death in 2004, Norma stayed in Bessemer but then moved to Grandville, Michigan, to live with her sister, Erma. After eight years, Norma returned to the area and lived at Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation, and Assisted Living Community in Ironwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 22, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer with Fr. Dominic Agyapong as celebrant. Norma's family will receive relatives and friends from 1 p.m. until the time of Mass at the church at 2:30 p.m. An ice cream social will be held immediately after. Rite of Committal and Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.

The family wishes to thank Westgate Nursing, Rehabilitation and Assisted Living Community for the wonderful care they provided to our mom. You are appreciated.

The family has chosen the McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home in Ironwood to honor Norma's legacy of life.
