Barbara Bowman

IRONWOOD, Mich. - Barbara Bowman, 84, of Ironwood, died Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, with her family by her side.

She was born March 12, 1940, in Liverpool, England, daughter of the late Thomas Wood and Rose (Doughty) Wood. Barbara worked in a factory in England when she was younger. On Dec. 13, 1958, Barbara was married to Kenneth Bowman, who served in the U.S. Air Force. They had four daughters, Sandra, Belinda, Tracey and Penelope, whom she raised in many environments due to her husband's various assignments abroad and in the U.S., England, Turkey, Florida, Wisconsin, California, Washington D.C., Virginia and lastly settling in Ironwood, where she worked at the Kodiak Corp. in Bessemer. Barbara also worked at Haven North during the ski season. She spent most of her time caring for her grandchildren.

Barb was a member of the fab four (Parnell, Maryanne, and her husband, Ken); they traveled together, were members of the local bowling and dart leagues, and they were always the hit of family holiday events. She loved the Green Bay Packers, sitting on her porch watching the neighborhood and was always willing to invite a stranger to sit and have a pop or ice cream. She enjoyed the summer season as her flowers bloomed, and she spent time with her family.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were everything to her and she loved to shower them with love, and to them she was their England's Rose.

Surviving are her four daughters, Col. (retired) Sandra Keefer (Tim), Belinda Carroll, Tracey Fahrner and Penny Tregembo (Bill); grandchildren, Brandon Fahrner (Tori), Amanda Perttunen, Tara Tregembo, Amanda Fahrner (Charles), Jesse Carroll (Haille), Michael Tregembo, Katelyn Long (Austin), Sarah Greenough (Caleb), Ivory Wilson, Kendra Fahrner, Zach Fahrner, Cayden Fahrner and Josh Fahrner; seven great-grandchildren, Finley, Sabrina, Wylie, Jameson, Tyler, Jenny and Carson; sister, Sylvia; brother, Tommy; nephews, Scott Bowman (Lynn) and family, Steve Bowman (Dolly) and family; and numerous cousins.

Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Bowman.

The family would like extend a heartfelt thank you to Ken Fahrner and Margaret Strand for their kindness and generosity to Barb.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be scheduled at a later date.

The family has chosen McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home to honor Barb's legacy of life. To make an online condolence visit McKevittPatrick.com.
