    WAKEFIELD - The Wakefield City Council terminated several contracts during its meeting Monday in order to help in the purchase of Father Daniel Hall as the new city hall building. The Western U.P. Substance Abuse Service Agency contract, the city's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), was up for renewal.     James Eismueller, owner of the Walleye Lodge in Bergland, has been coming snowmobiling to the Upper Peninsula for almost 30 years. Two years ago he purchased the Walleye Lodge in Bergland and when he was unpacking his belongings he uncovered a snowmobile bandanna from the area that he had been carrying around with him for at least 20 years.     MARQUETTE - John D. Erm, 84, of Marquette, died Friday evening, Oct. 10, 2014, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, where he had been a resident for a few days. John was born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Leeds, Mass., a son of John D. and Emma (Dussault) Erm. He was a 1947 graduate of Luther L. Wright High School of Ironwood and a 1956 graduate of Northern Michigan University with a degree in business administration.     HURLEY, Wis. - Katherine L. Ruppe, 99, a lifelong Ironwood, Mich., resident, died peacefully Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, with her loving family by her side, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley. The former Katherine Verbos was born Feb. 5, 1915, in Ironwood, daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Vryanich) Verbos, and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1933. She was united in marriage to Joseph S. Ruppe on June 1, 1935, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ironwood.... Full story
